大家可能在外国电影中看到警察说“ten four”，下面字幕是“明白”；或者，“This is code three alpha, I repeat, This is code three alpha”，字幕却是“各单位注意”……可为什么是这样翻译呢？
这些，就是警务专业英语中的其中一部分，radio transmission.
下面是一些常用的代号，正确的解释是这样的：
e.g “Use Code Zero, he's combative.”—
“请注意警戒，对方不太老实。”
e.g “Situation here is Code One.”-------------------
“请再派一辆车来。”
e.g “Situation here is Code Two.”
“一切正常，没有危险。”

当然，各城市的代号会有不同，北京也有同样的对讲机通讯专用代号，这些代号使得警员的通讯简捷准确，大大提高了危急时刻和日常工作的信息传递速度。
